Describe your company's current technology and solutions
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bedford Medical Alert was already delivering full-service wearable monitored life-safety devices to minimize safety risks and isolation for seniors living alone. Now, our services are even more vital than before. Caregivers for seniors across Canada depend on our monitoring when they must quarantine themselves. Our team has in place practices to safely on-board new clients, which supports caregivers, healthcare organizations, and families. With our monitored life-safety devices in homes, visits from potentially infected caregivers can be reduced and safety increased.

The current pandemic has created a new need for screening for signs of infection. Bedford's experience in HD IP Video Camera Surveillance Systems is well suited to assist private and public organizations. Our thermographic video and analytics systems, which our company supplies, supports, and installs, allow us to assist clients in identifying individuals, even within a crowd or gathering, with fevers that are indicative of infection.

We are differentiated by advanced technologies delivered using best practices developed over three generations. Our services increase peace of mind, decrease caregiving costs, decrease healthcare costs, and decrease workplace absenteeism for caregivers. Through clinician education, we receive referrals from hospitals, LHINs, government support agencies, and others. We are supported by a technology infrastructure that has been developed over decades to provide tailored life-safety monitoring solutions.

Are you aware of any current government challenges or opportunities that would be addressed by using your technology solution? Or a future need you can identify?
Our current solutions can address issues that are presenting in Supportive housing and LTC as well as hospitals and other healthcare related environments.
Our solutions help to proactively screen clinicians and patients as well as decrease the need to interact directly with at risk populations to assess if they need help.

Our mobile fall detection and personal help buttons are frequently used in Supportive Housing and can be used in Long-Term Care to reduce the need for frequent interactions between care providers and seniors. The solutions can be used to proactively alert healthcare practitioners and caregivers if there are issues.
Our cameras have thermal imaging to assess if someone is running a fever (both hand held and mounted options).

All of our solutions can be tailored to the needs of the organisations and can be adapted to local protocols.

As the COVID crisis continues, please describe specific opportunities where your technology might support Canadian needs / government needs
Thermographic Cameras to monitor body temp of both large groups and individual applications.
